I am a cross-disciplinary designer, based in Northern Finland and Ostrobotnia, with an interest in researching the relationship between human and the environment - body and nature. With an honest and holistic approach, the work tries to examine our time and tie different fields together and find ways to adapt in a rapidly changing environment. My personal mission is to research sustainability - what it means today, what it could mean in the future and how could we get there. This is the driving force in my work, constantly leading me forward. Strong values are a key element in my work and a starting point for any project.
With a background in fashion design I have a special interest in developing the textile and fashion industry. However, I realize that it requires a holistic understanding and I consider myself a cross-disciplinary designer, because my work is not tied to any specific field and I believe that innovation happens in the intersection of different fields. I enjoy a balance between working independently and in a team.
There is a satisfaction in expressing complex issues in a simple way and I see myself constantly looking for connections. Art is a way for me to experiment to understand a complex world and it is seen as a layer in my work, where as design gives structured tools to achieve wanted results. The visual language is minimalistic and striped down. I like the challenge of trying to find an essence, soul or the core of an issue and expressing that. My work is often provocative, yet, sensitive, it strives to ask questions while leaving space for imagination.
